History

Our center was established in 2016. As a result of the studies that started on 06.04.2016, a draft regulation was prepared and discussed in the university senate and entered into force with the name of “Fırat University Women’s Studies Application and Research Center” published in the Official Gazette dated 07.08.2016 and numbered 29794. The new regulation entered into force with the publication in the Official Gazette dated 13.09.2021 and numbered 31597 and the name of the center was updated as “Fırat University Women’s and Family Studies Application and Research Center”. The center operates with the aim of contributing to the strengthening of the family structure and ensuring that women take a more active part in social life. Since its establishment, it has conducted academic research on important social issues such as family relations, women’s rights, gender equality and violence against women, and has aimed to raise social awareness by organizing seminars and workshops. In addition, it continues to develop various projects to ensure that women take a more active role in social, cultural and economic areas. The center aims to contribute to society through both academic studies and social projects.
